Myrna J. (Jean) Janowski
Of 1017 Old Wausau Rd, Town of Hull, Stevens Point passed away Saturday evening June 1, 2024 at North Haven Assisted Living Center. Age 84
Myrna was born June 5, 1939 in Manawa, WI. (Waupaca County). She was the daughter of the late Lyle and Ruby (Button) Haight. She graduated from Wild Rose High school in 1957 achieving the Salutatorian Award. After graduation she began working at Sentry Insurance (formerly Hardware Mutual), retiring in 2004 after 37 years of service.
Her marriage to Joseph J. Janowski took place on September 20, 1958 at St. Peter Catholic church. After their marriage the couple settled in the Town of Hull. Her husband Joe preceded her in death on July 7, 1998.
Myrna was a lifelong member of the Women of the Moose and a member of St. Peters Rosary Society. She was in a bowling league and dart league for a number of years. In the last few years of performing, she was a member of the Country Village Musicians (who accompanied the Wisla Polish Dancers). Myrna loved to bake (noted for her sugar cookies and fruitcakes). She also crafted candles for special occasions.
Survivors include her two sons; Phillip James Janowski of Town of Hull and Mark Jeffrey Janowski Town of Linwood, and two sisters Dorothy (Haight) Bonell of Waupaca and Jane (Haight) Gollon of Stevens Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, sister Mary Lou, sisters-in-laws Bernice (Kulas) Janowski and Rosalie Kosman, and brothers-in-laws Anton Janowski Jr., Edward Kosman and Phillip Gollon.
Myrna attended Saxeville Grade School (an 8 grade country school) Saxeville, WI, was Salutatorian at Wild Rose High School, Waushara County, WI, then got hired at Hardware Mutual Insurance Company (now Sentry Insurance) and achieved the 100% Accuracy Typing Test Award for being the first Employee in Company History to receive a 100% Accurate Error Free Number's Typing Test score which was presented to Myrna at her Retirement 5 August 2004 by Dale Schue former CEO and Sentry Insurance Company.
Myrna liked all different types of sports local and professional Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Stars, Blackhawks, Badgers, UWSP, NASCAR, Pacelli, SPASH, outlying Portage County High school Sports as well as being a spectator for her son Mark's volleyball team, and Phil's sponsored softball team. Myrna enjoyed going to the Badger football Bowl Games in Florida Outback Bowl in Tampa, FL, Capitol One Bowl in Orlando, FL and Champs Bowl in Orlando, FL). Myrna also at times enjoyed going to car shows to watch and see Marks cars.
Myrna always said that she had four sons referring to neighbors Carl Gollon and Jeffery G. Schultz.
Myrna also was a Co-Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop Pack 295 in 1967-68 and also played Broom ball at the former Icodrome from1973 to 1976 with her former Sentry Co-workers.
Myrna also enjoyed going shopping on Black Friday with her sister Jane. Also Myrna enjoyed going with the Sentry Birthday Club gals when each celebrated their birthdays and sometimes an occasional trip to the casino.
Myrna also showed great love of her country and our service members. Myrna would always on every December 7 (Pearl Harbor Day) would tell me about her cousin James Hayes Tiffon, Ohio who was about 20 years older than her and is entombed in the USS Arizona and said prayers for him and all who lost their lives on that fateful day.

It is really grievous for Mark, Mine and Sisters Jane and Dorothy as well as Lori, Susie and Kathy and former Sentry Co-workers see our Myrna have her intellect deprived from the ravages of dementia the last 14 months She is now with Jesus (Boze) in the Kingdom of God alongside her beloved husband Joe and friends, relatives and co-workers!
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 14, 2024, at St. Casimir Catholic church. Fr. John Potaczek officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Casimir Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM Friday at St. Casimir Church until the time for mass.
